Cousin Becky disrespects the NAACP & Members

OMG!  Cousin Becky has also disrespected a National Organization, the NAACP!!!

Well Plainfield, here we go again…Councilwoman Rebecca Williams aka Cousin Becky continues to tell lies and be disrespected!  When will she stop?  The community is wondering why she is so filled with anger and hatred.  Here’s more of a response to the lies that she posted

Peter Briggs, my husband, is the President of the Plainfield Area NAACP and a volunteer member of several community groups, and in my opinion, he is one of the best humanitarians and community servants that Plainfield has ever had. This is a man who can regularly be seen volunteering his time and assisting others, from the goodness of his heart.  It saddens our families, neighbors and friends to read the lies and nonsense that Rebecca has written about him.  He’s a very intelligent man who does not let stupidity upset him.  Further, if he feels that someone is worthy of his time and effort, then he will respond.  Since Cousin Becky did receive a response from Peter, then she got her answer!  She’s obviously not worthy of his time, and many people agree!

With regard to the NAACP, how dare Cousin Becky write so negatively about a National Organization, which is so near and dear to many of our hearts.  Obviously, she needs a history lesson…but, isn’t she suppose to be an educator?  Oh well, here’s a brief history lesson for you Madame Council Woman Cousin Becky, with no consulting fee attached.

The National Association For The Advancement Of Colored People was started over 100 years ago by a group of white and black people who were devastated over the unfair treatment of black people (ie, hangings, not being allowed to sit in the front of a bus, not allowed to drink from all water fountains, being prevented from voting, and many other areas of injustice).  You Cousin Becky, are standing on the shoulders of many giant leaders in their own right, who have come before you, to fight for the rights of all people.  This is an organization that I began attending their meetings as a little girl.  At the age of six, I would help at Voter Registration Tables. Proudly, I have been a member for several years. Since Cousin Becky gave erroneous information, the truth is that two years ago when this writer ran for a state office, the records will reflect that respectfully, this writer was the highest vote getter over all of the candidates, for all of the positions, and when there was a re-election of all positions, the result was the same…the highest number of votes.  In fact, it was a National NAACP representative who told this writer to run for State Conference President. I am the former 4-term President of the Plainfield Area NAACP.  I also served on the State NAACP level as First Vice, Second Vice, Third Vice and Executive Committee Member.  Funny, no one remembers seeing Cousin Becky in any positions of leadership or at any of the meetings or events to support anyone’s rights.  Hmmm.   At another time, face to face, accurate information will be provided about NAACP elections. Members of the National and various State Conference Leaders recognize our long history of leadership in Plainfield. The NAACP has had major accomplishments.  It is a genuine asset to have a branch of this country’s oldest National Civil Rights Organization located right here in the City of Plainfield.  And, our membership and branch is very active.  Again, we pride ourselves in upholding the rights of all people.  This should be relevant to Cousin Becky since she represent three minority groups, and the NAACP has stood up for all of them.  Again, as an educator, she should realize that she is standing on the shoulders of some incredible people…Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr,. Mrs. Rosa Parks, Chairman Julian Bond, President Ben Jealous, President Peter Briggs and many others.

The good name of the NAACP will NOT be tarnished by someone who refuses to take the time to support the civil rights of all people.  For instance, the Plainfield Area NAACP held rallies to denounce the violence to young men such as Trayvon Martin and others…where was Councilwoman Rebecca Williams?  Certainly missing in action.  When the Plainfield Area NAACP held annual Black History Month events to honor Plainfield middle school youth of various ethnicities…where was Councilwoman Rebecca Williams? No where to be found.  When the Plainfield Area NAACP was in the forefront with regard to fighting for Muhlenberg Hospital to be kept in Plainfield as a full service facility, where was Councilwoman Rebecca Williams?  She was in a back room with Adrian Mapp and some New Democrats continuing to make back door deals as they were in favor of Muhlenberg closing its doors to our residents, and surrounding communities.  It’s been said that Cousin Becky thought that she would receive some PERSONAL advantage-employment opportunity by being a big part of the “Dump Muhlenberg” initiative.  Becky and some New Democrats had their representatives, including the former New Democrats President Adrian Mapp, at the table when Solaris/Muhlenberg discussed closing the full service facility.  MY GOODNESS, was Cousin Becky in favor of selling out Plainfield Residents for personal gain?  How shocking!  How distressing!  We do not need Cousin Becky anymore!
